About Our Synod

Bethany Lutheran Church is proud to be a part of the Northern Great Lakes Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), encompassing the entire Upper Peninsula of Michigan and the six adjacent counties in Northeastern Wisconsin.

As stated on the ELCA website, “Synods unite the work of congregations within their areas, serve as regional support, and guide pastoral and other staff candidates.”
